Please note that OAC members 60 and over are given priority to sign up for some events.
You must call or stop by the office to sign up for any events. Everyone is responsible for his/her own sign ups. You cannot sign someone else up.
You can also make an appointment with a volunteer to help review the calendar.
Office Closures/ Double Meals
VISIONS Offices will be closed on Thursday, June 19th
Double meals will be provided on Wednesday, June 18th.
No meals on Tuesday, June 24th due to the elections. The auditorium will be closed that day. Classes in the auditorium will be cancelled. Double meals will be provided on Monday, June 23rd.
Composting Matters: Help Us Follow NYC’s New Rules
In accordance with NYC’s new composting regulations, all food scraps must now be separated from regular trash during mealtimes. Please take a moment to dispose of food waste properly. If you’re unsure about what can be composted or need assistance, office and meal staff are available to help. Your cooperation is appreciated and essential to keeping our program in compliance.
Event Signups
Please note that OAC members 60 and over are given priority to sign up for certain events. Please note that events are space limited and often supplies are purchased based on RSVP numbers. If you sign up for an event, but need to cancel for any reason, please call the office as soon as possible. We can open the waiting list or avoid excess purchases when you keep us informed. You must call or stop by the office to sign up for any events. You may not sign up for someone else.

New Class Alert
Adaptive Living Group
If you are blind or have low vision and want to learn the accessibility features on your smartphone, safely prepare meals, manage your medications, and increase your overall confidence and safety as you live with vision loss, VISIONS offers free in person Adaptive Living Groups for adults 55 and older! You can learn new techniques, skills and discover devices that can assist you to maintain your independence.
Our next group will begin on Wednesday, June 4th at Selis from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

Let’s kick the summer off right with this annual celebration! Join us for a day of food, musical performances with Carnegie Hall, Bingo and prizes. We will end the event with an ice cream social! Percussion with Passion Class

Spring Fling, Chicken or Eggplant To Go Fundraiser

Cost: $20 Per Meal
Support your Senior Council and enjoy a delicious meal! Treat yourself to a Fried Chicken or Eggplant Parmesan To-Go Lunch. Each meal costs $20 and includes rice and peas, cornbread, string beans, soda, and a cupcake. Purchase your ticket from any Senior Council member during lunchtime in the auditorium. It's a tasty way to contribute!
Men of the Hour Talk Show

Feel The Beat - Dance Class

Paramount Community Day -Special Breakfast

Paramount Community Day - Kickboxing Class

Get ready to elevate your heart rate, increase muscular power, and enhance your overall strength. Kickboxing is not just for the young and athletic, it’s a dynamic and fun exercise that can benefit older adults at all fitness levels. Join our Paramount volunteers in this empowering and exhilarating workout. Limited to 13 participants.
Art Shack Ceramics
When: Friday June 13th
Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Where: 1127 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn
Facilitator: ArtShack and Melissa Phipps
Join us for a morning of clay sculpting and good conversation. Let the clay be your guide, you never know what you might make. This is an off-site activity and space is limited to the first 12 participants to register. This is the last class until the fall.
A Taste of Korea

Join Jiwon Lee and the Ocarina class for a special musical performance by the Ocarina class, stories of Korea and a special food tasting of Korean food. Don’t miss out on this special event. Limited to 35 people. Anyone can attend the performance but you must sign up in order to sample the food.
New York Cares Monthly Theme Party

Senior Prom

VISIONS annual prom is going to be full of glitz and glamour. This year’s theme is Hollywood. It will be full of glitz and glamour so come dressed to impress! Please try to dress in black and gold! Prom will be filled with dancing, crafts, games, snacks, goodie bags and cake with an opportunity to win Prom King and Queen!
Breakfast Club - New time!

Please note the new time for Breakfast Club, 10:00 - 11:00 AM. We are implementing some changes. Participants who sign up will receive a table mat indicating breakfast club so the volunteers will know who to serve. The breakfast will now include fruit salad, juice, coffee and one main breakfast item. The main breakfast item will change monthly (bagel, pancakes, etc). Any participant who treats volunteers (or staff) with any disrespect will be banned from joining breakfast club in the future.
Josh’s Movie Club

Textured Treasures: A Tactile Canvas Experience

Unleash your imagination in this hands-on art workshop where no two creations are the same! Using a variety of textured materials—like fabric scraps, buttons, string, mesh, paper, and more—we’ll design unique canvas masterpieces that speak through touch. Whether it’s bold and bumpy or soft and smooth, your artwork will reflect your personal story and creativity. No artistic experience needed, just a willingness to explore and have fun! Space is limited to 8 participants aged 60 and older only. Please RSVP.
Fitness Bingo

This will be a great way to kick off the week with light stretches, healthy snacks, crafts and of course bingo! Open to all but limited to the first 30 participants to sign up.
Tech Expo

VISIONS will be hosting a Tech Expo where Jose will be joined by Dr. Tang with his team of students and student volunteers from the intergenerational program to present on tech topics. Whether it’s the development of accessible apps or exploring future technologies, you will not want to miss this one!
New Member Monthly Social

Food Pantry
If you are interested in pantry items, stop by the office Wednesday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
Volunteer Appointments
We have volunteers on site Monday through Friday 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Evening volunteers beginning at 5:00 PM are also available. We can not accommodate walk-ins, please make an appointment with Ann De Shazo ext. 225.
Case Assistance and Applications By Appointment
Please call the office to make appointments for any of the following services: faxing documents, making copies, application assistance, benefits assistance like HEAP, Medicaid, Medicare, Homecare services, Money Identifiers, re-certifications, assistance filling out any forms. Rocky is available on Tuesday and Carmen is available for VCB application assistance on Tuesday and Thursday. We can also assist with money identifier applications.
